Jesse James McDowell Death – Cause Of Death: Deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting near the 300 block of Grouper Drive on January 21, 2022, at approximately 11:26 pm. Upon arrival, Deputies discovered a victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside the residence. Despite life-saving measures being used, the victim succumbed to his injuries. He died unexpectedly.
The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Jesse James McDowell, of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide Detectives with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office have taken up the investigation.
How Jesse James McDowell Die
The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Amaru Edward Barnes, of Fayetteville, North Carolina. He has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
It was discovered by the initial investigation that the victim and the suspect were neighbors.
