85 Year Old Michael Beahan Death – Obituary

Federal Member for Perth and Shadow Assistant Minister for WA. Authorised P Gorman, Inglewood, Patrick Gorman MP has announced via his official Facebook page the sudden and unexpected passing away of former President of the Senate, Michael Beahan, on Sunday, the 31st of January, 2022 at the age of 85.

The death of the ex – senate president is indeed a great loss to the WA and the Australian Labor Party, as the Western Australian Labor Senator who served from 1987 to 1996, a well known ten-pound Pom, who landed on the shores in 1954, really served humanity and lived a life of humility.

The deceased who was initially a teacher, had a great impact in the Teacher’s Union, and this helped him gain easy access to join the Labor Party in 1968, thereby rising through the ranks and securing his successful campaign back in 1981, for the position of State Secretary.

The deceased complimented the Hawke Government, when giving his first speech on the Senate floor in 1987, praising it for achieving a great deal in both terms of reconstructing and revitalizing the economy, and its gradual achievement of a more truthful and peaceful society.

He worked on so many issues in his lifetime, which includes the likes of industrial relations, improvement of access to education, and the revelation of political donations. Immediately he vacated the senate office the deceased moved to Victoria and served with the pharmacy industry till he retired retirement.

The 85 year old will be greatly missed for his many impact, commitment and immense contribution. We send condolences to his beloved family, friends and loved ones. May his gentle soul continue to rest peacefully.
