Bob Stephenson’s Death – Obituary, Bob Stephenson Is Dead

We have learnt from a tribute from The CBU Buccaneers, the home of the Christian Brothers University Buccaneers, the sudden and unexpected passing away of its former Director of Athletics and Hall of Fame member Bob Stephenson, via their official Twitter account on Tuesday, the 1st of February, 2022. He passed away on Sunday, January 30th 2022.

The deceased joined CBC in 1969 as athletics director and basketball coach, and was then the face of the athletics department for close to 30 years. He was named VSAC Coach of the Year after he led CBC to a 130-111 record, and also bagged the fourth-most wins in a season in school history.

After CBC failed to have a winning in eight years, Bob Stephenson took over its basketball program and earned the team career wins (130) which is more than the record any coach in CBC at that point in history has set. Bob Stephenson stopped coaching in 1978, but remained athletics director till 1996.

The deceased headed many CBC fund raising activities alongside Brother Cyril Conroy as they happily built many of the athletic facilities. The deceased also served as chairman of the physical education department and as director of intramurals, he was a great instrument who will be forever remembered for his impact and contributions.

We hereby extend our sincere thoughts and prayers to his family. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
