South Bank Plaza is a shopping center located in Braintree, Massachusetts, owned by Simon Properties Group. It is near the Braintree Split overpass at the junction of I-93/US 1 and Route 37. The mall opened as a plaza in 1961; it was closed in 1976 and expanded in 1995-96. With 192 tenants and 1,586,446 square feet (147,385.7 square meters) of gross leasable area, the mall is the largest mall in New England and the 16th largest in the United States.
As of 2022, the mall’s anchor stores are DSW, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Sears, Primark and Target. Previous hosts include Filene’s, Filene’s Basement, Jordan Marsh and Lord & Taylor.
