Pittsburgh City Paper, a Pittsburgh’s free alternative news and arts publication which has been in existence since 1991, has announced and made official the news of the sudden and unexpected passing away of local Pittsburgh legend, Jerry Weber, over the weekend. The report of Weber’s death was made known via the official twitter handle of the Pittsburgh City Paper.
The deceased was a well known local legend who brought the love of vinyl to the area and more importantly the appreciation of music to many generations, an online tribute paid to the deceased by a loved one read. Weber reportedly bid friends and family farewell to gain his heavenly wings on the 28th of January, 2022, at the age of 73.
Barely everyone with a taste for vinyl in Pittsburgh can identify with Jerry’s Records as the Squirrel Hill establishment drew a massive number of music lovers for decades, and famous people who passed through Pittsburgh. Vinyl was ranked among the best record stores in the world by Rolling Stone.
He instilled happiness and music appreciation to to all who he came across in his lifetime, and for this reason, a lot are still finding it difficult to accept the news of his death as they were hit hard having known that the store’s longtime former owner is no more. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
